This week we bring you new insight on the research of Autism. As presented in this article, researchers have found that brains with autism fail to trim synapses as they develop, and are testing out drugs on mice to further improve on it. It is still years from developing a clinically safe drug for human consumption, but this new breakthrough would mean a lot, especially when research on Autism is definitely gaining traction.

Today we pry into the thoughts of James on his recent trip to Indianapolis!
1. Thoughts on Long haul flights? James: I dread long haul flight because using economy flights would result in neck and back pains, and I always hope to be allocated to the emergency role seats for more leg space. I still enjoy the food (Not sure if we’re all on the same note for plane food) that is served on board, the in-flight entertainment is one of the ways for me to catch up with the not so latest movies now that work and family has been priority. 2. What are some of the interesting learnings from the Autism Society National Conference? James: The scale of the conference is really big and there is very much grass root involvement. There is a huge involvement from not only family members and parents, but also from individuals with ASD attending the conference, resulting in a very huge sense of inclusiveness. Different speakers shared a wide variety of perspectives and experiences, and the participants in the conference try to look for what works for them and find their own personal solutions. There were lots of emphasis on the importance to involve the whole community. 3. Thoughts on the encounter with Temple Grandin James: She is a very funny, amazing and inspirational person. I did not expect her to be so funny, cracking jokes in her speech for the conference, and she talks really fast as well. When I interact with her, it felt like I am interacting with someone who have achieved great things in life and give huge inspiration to others, not interacting someone who has Autism. 4. The conference participants' thoughts on T.Jacket James: The founder of the Autism Society in America- Ruth Sullivan, commented to Temple Grandin that T.Jacket was “just like her squeeze machine!” We think that it is Temple Grandin’s squeeze machine just that it is more mobile and easier to use. It is also fashionable, and kids will take to it. A parent who had a squeeze machine upon seeing T.jacket was so excited she brought her daughter back to buy the jacket. The daughter had a positive response immediately and was hesitant to take it off after the demo! Temple Grandin herself tried it and felt that the T.jacket was giving sufficient pressure too. We at T.Ware are really humbled by the experience to share with the US community, and have found this to be a very enriching Journey! This Monday, we bring inspiring recent news for Autism. Remember the old adage "Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life" ? Well it seems Matt Cottle nailed it on the spot! We at T.Ware are definitely supportive of the Entrepreneur spirit, so go on, encourage yourself and your little ones to find their passion and be awesome at it!
Not so long ago in July, T.Ware participated in the 45th Autism Society of America National Conference in Indianapolis, it was a great experience meeting people from all walks of life and to attend a talk by Temple Grandin, and not only did we work hard those few days talking and connecting with people to find out more on how T.Ware can help, we played hard too- One of our big fans got us special tickets to Nascar Race Event!
Next Wednesday we'll be doing a short interview with our CEO James on the experience in the 45th Autism Society of America National Conference. Stay tuned! Yixuan is the youngest in our team! She's such an insightful and interesting person to talk to, notwithstanding her age! Here's a this-or-that about her - we just think that everyone should get a chance to get to know her ;) Run or Swim
Swim, it's more comfortable. It’s a whole body workout and when i'm tired I can just rest and lie above the water - very comfortable. Coffee or Tea Coffee. I prefer the taste and It sometimes accompanies me late into night. Vegetables or fruit Fruit. The process to prepare the fruit to make the shapes that i like makes me happy. I like to make fruit salad and fruit desserts and share it w my friends. more like a social activity? yes. Vegetables i have during meals, but fruits I can have anytime i want. Laptop or tablet When working, laptop. When traveling, of course tablet. Laptop has more functions and it's easier to type on the keyboard than to tap on the screen and the tablet for me, is more like an output device, not an input device. a tablet functions more for entertainment, and not work. Yellow or Green Green. It's good for the eyes, haha. Now when i look out of the window, my eyes feel comfy/ relax my eyes from looking at the screen. Green also makes me feel very lively. It reminds me of lying in the forest, I look at the sky surrounded by the trees, I will really feel peaceful - released from usual hectic life. Cake or cookies Ah... hard decision. I like both. Must I choose one? (I nod) Cookies. They're both delicious, but cookies remind me of family parties. My aunt makes cookies and my cousins and I will share the cookies. So it's memories from childhood. Winter or summer Winter. But it depends on what the temperature is. In singapore, summer is not as hot. In my hometown, temperatures in summer can be as high as 40 degrees. So we've always got to stay indoors. The winter however, isn't so extreme. If it snows, we can play outside in the snow. It's also warm and comfy to stay in bed, and winter is much more beautiful. When the ground is covered by the snow, you can really feel magnificent. There are many Chinese poems describing the winter scenes. Looking at it makes me think of those poems, making it even more beautiful. And in winter, you feel one year older. it brings a close to the year and a new start to another. Board games or ball games Definitely boardgames. I'm not that athletic and i started to play boardgames at a very young age. I like it cos I’m good at it. Whats your favourite? Chinese chess. I play different kinds thought - Chinese chess, Chinese checkers, 5 in a row. You can play boardgames anywhere as long as you have a pen and paper, you can even draw the lines on your own (for 5 in a row) , we do it in class. Boardgames are like intellectual activities. But nowadays, i try to play more ball games even though i like boardgames more. Ball games make you use teamwork and work in team, and are very tiring, but you still enjoy it - you feel the victory and failures since you are a team. Be older than you are or younger than you are Younger. Since I can be older, and if now, I want to accomplish something in the future, I will be there one day, i dont need to hope for it. But i can never be younger than I am now, and can't feel like a child again. If i could be younger, i would appreciate my younger life more since I can appreciate it all now. |
