Temple Grandin invented the squeeze machine at the age of 18 that delivers deep touch pressure to help her learn to tolerate touching and to reduce anxiety and nervousness. The squeeze machine is the inspiration behind the T.Jacket!
Dr. Grandin controlled the T.Jacket using the app without difficulty and adjusted it to a pressure she desired. She liked the pressure, which she said is good and strong enough.
It feels incredibly awesome yet humbling to meet with the highly respected Dr. Grandin, our inspiration!
We're getting to know Zach better by giving him a category, and asking him about the first thing in that category that comes into his mind. We also get a little random musing or fact from him. I definitely agree with him about Running Man (more below) Were your answers any similar or different? Let us know :)
Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses. I listen to it on the way to work sometimes.
KFC? Okay Western Cuisine. It's my comfort food whenever i'm stressed
Manchester United. Supported them since I was 8, and am ready to go through the downs with them right now.
Singapore. A lot of people ask me during the World Cup which country I support. I tell them that the only country I support is Singapore. But i don't think i'll ever get to see that in the world cup during my lifetime.
Car. Alpha Romeo. I really like the triangular vent in the front of the car. It's the trademark of Alpha Romeo. I think it looks very sleek.
Soju (Korean vodka). I recently started mixing soju with fruit juice and it tastes really good. You should try it!
Pink. I had a discussion about whether the shirt im currently wearing is pink or purple. But I might be colour blind because i thought it was purple. (Interviewer's note: it was pink)
World Wide Web. It's one of the most powerful inventions and is being used in a lot of different industries right now.
Transformers, just because i'm going to watch it next week. If we're talking about shows, then it would be Running Man (a South Korean variety show). It suits any mood. When you're happy and you watch it you become happier, and when you're down and you watch it, you become happy!
Do you feel like you know Zach better already? ;) Have a good upcoming weekend everyone!
Hello everyone! T.Ware won the first prize at the Asian Entrepreneurship Awards 2014 held in Japan over 13 - 15 July! We wanted to share our thoughts and plans about what's next for us, so we thought we'd do it here. Thanks again to everyone who has supported us and believed in us in our journey thus far - you too are a part of this success - thank you!!
The Asian Entrepreneurship Awards 2014 program was held in Kashiwanoha City, 30 minutes by train from Tokyo. It was the perfect setting for the competition as the city is built on the concept of a Smart City – a model next-generation city that promotes healthy living and the creation of new industries by incorporating the latest technologies, services, and systems, combined with a participatory social experience for residents.
T.Ware presented in the semi-final round, together with participants from Korea, Japan and India, and qualified for the finals. The top 6 teams, besides T.Ware from Singapore, were from Malaysia, India, Thailand, China and Philippines.
In these few days of sharing and presentations, several key learnings emerged:
We were confident that we would make it to the finals, but did not expect to win as other teams were really impressive – in both their business models and experiences, as well as in their presentations. We are humbled by the many passionate and successful entrepreneurs in the Asian community, and are proud to be part of this community. It’s great that the T.Ware team’s hard work is being recognized internationally, and we feel really happy that we have been able to make Singapore and NUS proud with this achievement. It will spur us to continue our work to 'bring touch to life'. We’re not yet over the euphoria, but it’s now back to the grind!
Moving forward, it will be exciting for T.Ware as we will be:
And most importantly, all of this would not have been possible without the support from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and NUS Enterprise. We’re extremely grateful to Prof Wong Poh Kam for his nomination – your nomination and belief in us has cemented our commitment to ‘bringing touch to life’. We also want to thank Dr Gary Rubin, Mr Wong Sang Wouh and Mr Kristav Childress for their time, and for their generosity in imparting the knowledge and skills they have from their years of experience in business and presentations – these have been invaluable, not just for AEA2014, but also for what lies beyond for T.Ware.
We have compiled tips from here, here and here to give you bite sized information on how you can help your child sleep better.
Donna Williams, who has written extensively about living with ASD, describes her fear of falling asleep in her autobiographies:
Of course, this is very subjective. Your child may not feel this way, but this does indeed give us a glimpse into someone else's fears about sleeping.
Do you face the same problems too? What do you do? Let us know! :)
